I am a Vim user too! Because of my curiosity, I tried Emacs and I was amazed how easy it is for beginners! There are very simple quick-start guide that don't force to use all the great features just yet. And all things that can be confusing for beginners are turned off by default. We can learn something. :)

Also, I like to think that Vim is not an editor. It's a language or, you may even say, a concept of editing text.
