As a normal internet user I am glad about the forced compliance being deprecated as well. It wasn't about power for everyone and there were some people generally meaning well, but overall it has damaged real diversity and inclusion significantly.

In Europe political developments have been desastrous due to this form of activism. The pirate party for example. Once a voice for digital freedom now advertises forms of truth councils and censorship on large internet platforms. This is a 180° direction change from their former mission.

Not seeing much light at the end of the tunnel here sadly.

This framing as a worker rights issue is dishonest as well. Sure, Musk will collide with some employment protections, but otherwise his refocus of the platforms seems correct. Because the former leadership lost their way as many other institutions.
