My favorite WS-* is WS-I, a bunch of guidelines about which versions/subsets of the other standards to use, if you actually want to talk to someone else.

(As someone who once had to implement a SOAP server supporting diverse clients, I'll never pass up a chance to get a dig in)



I remember the time someone told me what the "S" in SOAP stood for. They were clearly pranking me; I refused to believe it.

And to this day, nobody will give me the real answer! Whole world is in on this prank, and I've given up trying to find out.


The "S" stands for "Complex". It's in the spec.
