Mr Flibble sends his regrets.

WOPR was the first fictional AI to realise to win is not to play at all.

From the War Games (1983) film.

Colossus/Guardian was the first AI to realize that the humans could be easily coerced by using their own nukes against them.

From the Colossus: The Forbin Project (1970) film.

Eighties meet the seventies. : - )

WOPR used reinforcement learning, and could learn from its simulated mistakes. LLMs can't do that without some sort of RL harness. :)

Rich, bored and perverted.

Ah, rich, bored, and not your jam.

Would it be possible to port it to run on the rp2350?

Some parts of it, very likely. The shell is just linenoise with some glue code. How are things with ELF loading on rp2350, I did not check. May be possible, the question is, how much effort. In ESP-IDF that is a standard component now.

rp2350 supports freertos, so a similar port should be fairly trivial.

The io DMA code is a little special on the Pico. Very capable little chip. =3

Openrc would have been a better choice.

If this works out, we won't need diesels nor electrification (overhead or third rail). Just have the train recharge at every station it stops at to extend its range (currently 200 miles, a record)

Their shitty engineering ethos infected Boeing and was an indirect cause of the recent 737 crashes.

Instead of losing 8GB of precious RAM, you could map out the bad memory with a Linux GRUB boot parameter that tells Linux not to use that part of the memory.

I've successfully done this with a Dell Precision machine that we needed as a build machine. Twelve months later on, still works and we do seriously stress it with builds.

BTW, I absolutely love Pepper and Carrot. Keep up the great work.

We have so many build utilities out there.

A glaring omission is the Chinese civilisation. It's lasted thousands of years.

The individual dynasties, however, lasted about 250 years each, like the others listed. China also got taken over by the Mongols in the mid-1200s, (retaken by Han Chinese a century later), and then by the Manchurians in the mid-1600s. Chinese civilization, not just the government, got taken over by European rationalism/modernism in 1940s with the Communist Revolution. (It's ironic that the Chinese government talks complains about "Western influences", when their whole governmental ideology is based on European ideas.)

Confucianism lasted a lot longer though.
