then we should be making legos, not cakes...

https://www.benbyford.com personal website with links to my ethics consultancy and games company... varied interests

Was really hoping that this was going to be a useful thread for me, as I have a 8 going on 9 year old who mostly wants to be doing computer games, minecraft and making stuff all day long. But unsuprisingly there's some haters who really could have not bothered in this thread... I mean seriously why waste your own time?

For me I'm going to give raspberry pi a go and hope that he gets excited about the hardware aspect and making things with it as well as the software side... and if he breaks it cool, no problem, where as breaking my work mac would be catastrophic for me and my ability to work :(

got to start somewhere...

I use duckduckgo and google for search – sometimes I find the google AI answers helpful (even though sometimes inaccurate still) for more categorical questions that I simply need an anwser or somewhere to start with (i.e. "can you eat charcoal?"), I then go ahead a click some links...

I use ChatGPT for text summation and translation, and midjourney for slide decks and graphic design ideation.

HA! unfortunately its not the 90s anymore :)

The past is never dead. It’s not even past.

You can bet on today’s version of ADAT and Zip Disks. Digital is temporary.

Crikey! Nice setup. Feel like I'm more aligned with you on this one where I don't want to put my data in the hands of someone who can both use it and lose it... I've got my NAS in the office but might look into a setup for the whole family

wowza! nice. I wonder what the version of that for a granny is?!

+ 1 for sure.

My personal interest is more aligned with crypto (back in 2008) where I would like to see a transation layer which is independent... feel free to use banks or not, invest or not, but the way you move moeny about is shared and not owned by anyone.
